Species text
The species is confined to southern England, East Anglia and the Channel Islands. Although not listed in Shirt (1987) or Falk (1991) the restricted range suggests revision of its status (to Nationally Scarce) is needed (Edwards, 1998). It occurs mainly in sandy localities, such as inland heaths and coastal dunes. The wasp is usually confined to old heathland or acid grassland sites, and is very scarce in Essex, often confined to specific small habitat patches. References
